HUMAN RESOURCES COORDINATOR
Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), to provide human resources (HR) services and support to an area comprised of over 1000 faculty, staff, postdocs, and students. Will coordinate HR activities and advise on HR policies, procedures, and best practices; provide input on CSAIL HR programs, policies, and procedures; assist faculty and managers with recruitment, employee relations, onboarding, HR policy interpretation and guidance, and personnel recordkeeping; collaborate with CSAIL’s HR manager and team members to identify HR needs; ensure that CSAIL’s HR programs are compliant with local legislation and MIT policies; and deliver high-quality programs/services that result in improved performance and retention. Additional responsibilities may include producing reports, coordinating events, reviewing salary distributions, documenting procedures, and participating in special projects.

Job Requirements:
REQUIRED: bachelor's degree; at least two years' direct HR experience; knowledge of basic HR functional areas (e.g., recruitment, employee relations, compensation, policies and procedures, onboarding, labor relations, performance management, and training); ability to learn and consistently apply general HR policies, regulations, and employment laws; strong employee-relations skills; ability to earn trust and credibility and respond effectively to a variety of people at all levels; proven track record of following through on assignments accomplishing tasks; excellent written and verbal communication skills; self-motivation; ability to work independently and seek out answers/resources on own; proficiency with the internet; and knowledge of or ability to learn HR management. PREFERRED: working knowledge of and experience with applicant tracking and performance management software systems; knowledge of federal and state local employment laws; project and process management skills; and interest in developing HR skills/experience across multiple disciplines.
